Coxhoe Church

Coxhoe is situated on the B6291 road, about 1 mile south of Junction 61 of the A1(M) Motorway. The church is located almost directly opposite the Village Hall.

The St. Andrew’s society is the direct result of a merger in September, 1964, between two existing Methodist Churches.

For some years, St. Andrew’s continued to utilise the old Wesleyan Chapel premises, but, in October, 2007, a new building was formally dedicated.

We try to make everyone feel welcome as well as offering outreach to the local community.

For further information about the church or baptisms/weddings/funerals please contact the Rev. Christopher Wood-Archer on 0191 377 0230

Sunday Services: 10.45am.

(Most Sundays, there is an informal Singalong for a quarter-hour before Morning Worship begins.)

Wednesdays, 7.00pm: Wives’ Group
Meeting fortnightly, this is a friendly group of women of various ages from the church and wider community who meet to enjoy an extensive programme of talks, demonstrations and craft evenings and occasional meals out together. All women are very welcome to come along to any of our meetings - even if they cannot commit themselves to attend regularly.

1st Saturday of the month, 10.00 – 10.30am: Shoppers’ Services.

Open to everyone, these user-friendly services are intended to supplement, rather than replace, the Church’s regular Sunday morning worship. The Church regards them as particularly attractive to those who, for one reason or another, find the normal pattern of Sunday worship unsuited to their needs. And, because the Shoppers’ Services last only thirty minutes, they’re especially attractive to those whose free time is limited. Since the current series of Shoppers’ Services began more than five years ago, the Church has noticed a steady increase in their popularity; and believes that their comfortable, relaxed and refreshing atmosphere is meeting a real need in the village. Each month there is a guest speaker.

Saturday: Coffee Mornings are held each Saturday morning from 9.15 to 11.30am.

During the year, weather permitting, the church arranges various outdoor activities in its forecourt area and in the landscaped area behind the church.
